Joyce A. Powzyk Ph.D is a scientist and artist. Educated at Duke and Harvard Universities in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy, she is an expert on lemurs and has done extensive fieldwork in Madagascar, and in Eastern and Central Africa as well. Ms. Powyzk brilliantly combines her science and artistic talents as evidenced in the publications: In Search of Lemurs (National Geographic Society), Animal Camouflage (Bradbury Press, 1990), Tracking WIld Chimpanzees (Lothrop, Lee & Shepard, 1988), Tasmania: A Wildlife Journey (Lothrop, Lee & Shepard, 1987 – American Library Association Notable Book Award), Wallaby Creek (Lothrop, Lee & Shepard, 1985 – American Library Association Notable Book Award). She has illustrated numerous popular and scholarly publications and posters and has participated in several exhibitions at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts, and at the Society of Illustrators in New York City.
