kaveryЧасть выходных провела за чтением «Merrick» Энн Райс на английском. Прочитав четверть книги, чувствую себя героем, потому, как это мой первый опыт чтения художественной литературы на языке оригинала.
У Энн Райс что ни книга, то новый художник. Точнее я просто не очень хорошо была знакома с творчеством некоторых из них. На этот раз речь пойдет об итальянце Андре дель Сарто.
«His face flushed for an instant. It lost the preternatural whiteness and he seemed a young man of twenty four—with sharply defined and beautiful features, and gaunt well modeled cheeks. He might have been made by God to be painted by Andrea del Sarto, so deliberately perfect did he seem.»
«He looked rather splendid in his sorrow. Again he made me think of the paintings of Andrea del Sarto».
Естественно, что мне стало любопытно взглянуть на картины этого мастера. А Люся попросила выложить их в сеть, что я и делаю.

Andrea d'Agnolo di Francesco, known as Andrea del Sarto (1486-1530).
Andrea del Sarto spent most of his working life in Florence, where he was a pupil of Piero di Cosimo. He executed the decor for the Scalzi cloister in grisaille , and the Life of St. John the Baptist (1514-1528) in a monumental style inspired by Michelangelo, DArer and Lucas van Leyden. He is the best example of Florentine Classicism derived from Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael yet marked by a highly personal, solemn and slightly melancholy tone. Much appreciated in his time, he was summoned to France by Francois I in 1518 where he painted Charity. His Poggio a Caiano frescoes (1520-1521) mark a desire for balance and formal simplification in reaction to the formal daring of his pupil Pontormo.
