Переводить рок-песни – дело неблагодарное. Иногда даже носители языка не очень точно понимают некоторые художественные обороты. На западном форуме поклонники Тома Петти обсуждают следующую строчку:

Always had more dogs than bones
I could never wear those clothes.

Мне интересно, а какой смысл вам видится в этой фразе. Насколько я поняла, это не идиома. Поэтому трактовок может быть много..
