A Fine Cabinet Miniature of an Unknown Man and Woman , Gouache on Vellum (1600 - 1700)
Gouache on Vellum (гуашь на пергаменте)
'A M Hirkin . fecit Anno 1661'
10 cm h x 14 cm w (3 3/4 in h x 5 1/2 in w)
Painted in the times of Charles II this cabinet miniature probably commemorates a marriage . It is a superb example of a combination of an interior of a room , curtain draperies and a typical late 17 th century fashionably dressed couple . She is holding a fan and wearing a fine lace collar , he with fancy shoes and walking cane . The significance of the empty gilt frame probably means that they are waiting for their portrait to be painted .
Inscribed on the base of the right hand pillar 'A M Hirkin . fecit Anno 1661' Circa 1661
Меня несколько смущает костюм дамы. Мне кажется, что он несколько старомоден для конца 17 века. Такой наряд скорее характерен для начала эпохи. Во всяком случае воротник и такие носили при короле Джеймсе.
